This harness is made very well and it is extremely easy to put on my dog, even though she rolls and squirms the entire time. I have not had her in the car yet, as I am considering exchanging it for the larger harness still. It does seem to be constructed well enough to restrain her while in the car and have enough mobility to sit or lay.

The harness does say that it is for up to 55 lb. dogs, and mine is only 40lbs, but it barely fits her chest. I have it expanded all the way at the bottom of her chest. She is an English Pointer, but very petite for her breed so I thought I would order the medium since she is within weight recommendations. She is 22 inches tall and her chest is about 8 inches shoulder to shoulder. I measured her ribs 24 inches around at the largest part. She is also 22 inches chest to back leg. When ordering this for larger “medium size” dogs, you should consider your dogs chest size as well as weight.

    Hope this helps!

After driving my dog around in my 2 door Infiniti and having her fall every time I brake, I finally decided to get a dog seat belt. My dog does not mind wearing it and she actually sits still more and learned within 2 or 3 days how to sit for it to be comfortable. She is a Huskey/Lab/Whippet?/Greyhound? mix at about 45 lbs, 2 years old, and is very well tame so results may vary depening on the nature and breed of your dog.

Overall a good buy. I take her to the dog park and it sucks to hold the dog seat belt as I also use it as a harness from the parked car to the dog park front gate.

I’ve always seatbelted my boys. I have two English Springer Spaniels, both right around 50 pounds. I need to know my boys are safe in the back seat so I don’t have to keep looking over my shoulder to check on them, especially when the back windows are down. Before I restrained my boys in the backseat I realized how unsafe of a driver I was because I was sometimes paying more attention to the pups in the backseat than the road ahead. Not only that, if there were to be an accident I feel much better now knowing that they will not become dangerous projectiles.

We’ve had a few different brands in the past but these are definitely some of the best-made restraints for the price. I like the padding up front on the chest so it doesn’t cut in under their arms.

I got mediums for both my boys. However they are almost too small. My guy who’s around 52 pounds only has about 3/8″ of strap outside the buckets which kind of worries me. I just have to check it each time we “truck up.” The only other thing is I wish it had a few more buckles instead of the slip rings so I didn’t need to put it on over their head. The neck area needs to fit well but I have to make the straps longer to get it over their heads, then readjust the straps when in place. That area adjusts with slip rings which aren’t very easy to adjust when the restraint is already on the dog.

I always felt guilty that I didnt have some kind of restraint for my dog since I am very seatbelt concious. I found this to be very affordable and it seems like it would do the job if I had gotten into an accident. I hope it would work okay….

THIS ALMOST KILLED MY DOG! THERE IS WAAAAAY TO LONG OF THE THING YOU ATTACH TO THE HARNESS AND YOUR CAR SEAT BELT!!! ITS INSANE. DIDNT HOLD HER IN AT ALL. SHE TRIED TO JUMP DOWN BUT DIDNT MAKE TO THE FLOOR THE CHAIN WAS MAKING HER HANG BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE FLOOR! WE ADJUSTED IT AS TIGHT AS WE COULD AND IT STILL HAD TO LONG OF A LEASH. WAS FRIGHTENING WE HAD TO QUICK PULL OVER AND DETACH HER! DO NOT BUY THIS ITS VERY UNSAFE!
