I searched for a crate for my doxie pup all over (stores & online) and found the Midwest Crates to have great features and a variety of sizes to choose from for a very reasonable price. I am using this crate to train my pup but do not expect to keep using it; once she can be trusted in the house alone. So for me, I did not want to make a huge investment and so far this crate has not disappointed me. The crate was easy to set up and folds down flat for easy storgage, it comes with a divider which was a must for me with a 3 lb pup. I am very please with this purchase and would recommend it to all!!

This crate is the perfect size for my Yorkie! My other crate was too large and we were having bathroom problems, but no more! In addition to the right size it was the right price. Local retailers wanted $65 and up for a similar size. There is a difference in quality, but lets be real - for such a small dog do I need it to be built like a fortress? I also have a much larger version of the crate I used for a larger dog and it kept her in without any problems too. So the quality may be less than those sold at pet stores, but it does what it needs to do - keeps the dog (and my house) safe at night. It is foldable for storage or travel as needed, comes with a divider if a smaller area is needed for a puppy and a plastic pan in case there are any accidents. I rate this at a 5 because it meets all the requirements - price, size, construction and usability.

Today, my 9 week old miniature Dachshund puppy nearly had her lower jaw broken! This crate arrived and was very simple to put together. I had an initial complaint that the bottom plastic layer cannot be secured to the crate with anything supplied by the company. This is a concern for older puppies and adult toy breeds who can lift up this plastic sheet and either get out through the bottom or GET CAUGHT in the bottom as this area is not made up of smaller openings like the rest of the crate but very big ones.

But my main concern is the openings near the top are very small and in no way secure from young puppies getting their paws stuck or, as with my puppy today, getting their lower jaw stuck. Fortunately she was right by me when this happened and I was able to extricate her at once. That said, she was terrified and this accident did hurt her. Also, in crate training, this incident will leave some anxiety that I'll have to deal with. Which would not have happened if the company that made this junk had better thought out their entire pen.

This is a terrible product. Do not buy it. The same thing could happen to your puppy and you might not be home to help them. Buy something better and think of the broken jaws and broken legs your puppy won't suffer.

I'm returning mine today.
