This is a nice DVD, but not all it was said to be. My dog is not all that anxious, but I thought it might calm him down when the housekeeper is here. It didn’t.

Just bought this…not so sure about it solely working on my JRT for her serious seperation anxiety and barking when I leave. It doesnt seem to make her sleep thats for sure- but what does! I have been training her for 2 weeks now by doing the combo- 1 hour long morning walk coupled with “Quiet” command and sit outside my door every morning for an hour occasionally treating her when she does not bark-and also giving her a kong filled w cheesewhiz… but this is a good addition to that routine….probably better than the tv. I wanted to recommend a 2 set CD called “piano dreams” ..very simular and something everyone here would enjoy if they liked this. Dog has the same reaction to these CDs. I wouldve given it more stars if it worked miracles- but I’m not that naive about any product working miracles for this puppy.

The reason for the 4 star rating is that 4 of my 5 dogs do relax when this CD is playing. The 5th dog, who is scared of any kind of noise, hides in the closet when this CD is playing.

Note: Don’t worry about #5, there is no door on the closet.

Like several other reviewers, my copy of “Through a Dog’s Ear” arrived from Amazon without the CD, which is clearly meant to be included with the book.

For this reason, I returned the book to Amazon and will repurchase it through Sounds True, the publisher.

It’s really too bad that this book is being stigmatized by Amazon’s failure to exert quality control.

I saw the car version of this CD advertised in a dog magazine a few years ago and bought it to see if it would help calm my dog in the car (it did to a degree). When the product came there was an advertisement for this CD to be used in the home for storm anxiety, etc. I bought it too and it worked even better than the car one-I primarily use it for storms and when neighbors shoot fireworks; if they go on for too long or are too close; e.g., the windows are rattling, he will still bark and pace but it takes longer for it to start and it is easier to quiet him. I was amazed at how well it worked; have recommended it to 2 friends with dogs who have much worse storm anxiety than my dog and they both swear by it. The music is great for people too-I find it relaxing and pleasant to listen to. One person I know doesn’t have her dog anymore but she still plays the CD because she likes it. There is nothing to lose with this CD; even if it doesn’t have the desired effect in the dog you stil have a great music CD!
