The product that I purchased seems to be a quality product (I have not yet installed it} What I am happy about is the way a problem thar arose was resolved. I had not received my intial order and I let those know that take care of those problems. The problem was resolved much better than I had anticipated and was done in a quick manner.

I purchased one of these and the door broke off — in the middle of winter! The door couldn’t be replaced because the hinges where you’d hang a replacement door had also broken off, so I had to replace the whole thing. Plus, I didn’t want to have to resize the hole to try a new brand. I thought it was a fluke and bought another one and the same thing happened. I think maybe the hinges ice up or something when it’s cold, and it become brittle and cracks.

After the second one broke, I re-sized the hole, and tried a different brand with a rubberized door, and the rubber on that creased and broke off also after a couple of months.

Not sure now what the best suggestion is for a cat door/cat flap. Hmmmm. I’m just really glad I didn’t cut a hole in a door to fit one of these — I installed it in one of the window panes in my basement window. So if I decide it’s not worth the hassle of the door breaking off every 3-6 months, I can always replace the window pane with glass again.

So my advice is to think hard before you cut a hole in your door for this!

We homemade a cat door for our patio with a piece of lumber cut to size and sealed at the edges with our patio door. It works great and at a fraction of the cost of the others.

I needed a way for my cat to access her litter box in a closet under the stairs and this cat flap was the cheapest option. It serves its intended purpose and my cat learned to use it quickly. As many other reviews have stated, the lock is garbage (it broke in half within 1 minute of me opening the box), but I don’t anticipate ever wanting the ability to lock the door in its current location.

This little cat door is perfect for an interior door between rooms. It was easy to install, but the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the instructions were really, well– dumb. Thank goodness my husband is used to doing some similar projects so he could figure out the idiot sheet!! If it had been up to me, the cat door would still be in the box.

My kitten figured out the door right away, and he uses it — keeping the odor from his cat box contained in the mud room and not in the house. Yesterday we had to keep him inside and we used the lock successfully. It works. It was not expensive, and I am happy.
