I have two Golden Retrievers both weigh between 70-75 lbs. This product is not wide enough for a large dog. I would not recommend the “Super Skamper” unless your dog is smaller than a Retriever.

This is a great product. The only thing you need to understand is that you need to TEACH your dog to use it. They tend to want to come to you. The instructions on the website ([...]) were very helpful. Now I have no worries and even better, never have dead frogs or possums floating in the morning either!

I want to start this review with saying this is a good product but not for a Pontoon boat. I have 4 dogs that swim and a few of them like to jump off the boat. This causes a real problem with trying to get them back in. The Skamper-Ramp is the most cost effective dog ladder/ramp on the market and is best to be used, in my opinion, for pools, docks, and low sided “V” haul boats. If you have a Pontoon boat the Dog Ladder by TruMotion ([...]) might be better. I purchased it and found it works right off the top rung of my boat ladder. The down fall on this model is you have to tie it on in case a wave knocks it off the ladder rung, it is a little heavy and will quickly sink . Everyone at Jake’s Dog House and the manufacture of the Skamper-Ramp were wonderful to deal with in helping me find a ladder that would work for my boat.

I have a 3 month old golden retriever and an above ground pool. I purchased this product because the pool sides are only 2 feet above the ground, and if my dog jumped the sides he would then be able to get out. After installing the product, I was in the pool with my dog and tried to show him how to get out. He tried numerous times but could not get any traction, and there isn’t any cross beams to use as steps. Only with my help supporting most of his weight was he able to get out. I am very unhappy with this product and would not recommend it to anyone.
